What is Microdosing?
Essentially, microdosing is the act of consuming a sub-perceptual amount of a psychedelic with the intention of increasing the quality of your life. By consuming micro-amounts, you can experience some of the neuro-elastic benefits of psilocybin or other psychedelic substances, without commiting to a full blown trip.
Microdosing has become more culturally accepted due to an increase in studies and accessible information into its significant therapeutic potential. This presents microdosing as not only a means for cognitive enhancement, but also as a valuable tool in the healing process.
What Are Magic Truffles?
Magic truffles are naturally occurring psychedelic fungi, derived from the same organism as, you guessed it, magic mushrooms. Magic Truffles are essentially dense mycelial masses, known as sclerotia. These sclerotia grow underground beneath the mushroom, acting as a food reserve. Like magic mushrooms, magic truffles contain the active chemical Psilocybin, which is what gives them their psychedelic properties.
How To Microdose:
We recommend microdosing in the morning, on an empty stomach. Have a light, nutritious breakfeast around 30 minutes afterwards for optimal results.
Following esteemed microdosing researcher James Fadiman’s protocol, here is the microdosing schedule we recommend:
Day 1: Microdose day- the sub-perceptual effects will likely last around 8 hours.
Day 2: Day off- you will likely experience some residual effects or ‘afterglow’.
Day 3: Day off- back to baseline.
Day 4: Repeat cycle.
This is a popular pattern in order to not build a tolerance so you can continually reap the benefits of microdosing over a sustained period of time. This is the most common schedule, but you get to be the one to decide how to microdose- there is no ‘one size fits all’. As these are microdoses for energy, you could just choose to microdose when you need that extra kick.
Microdosing For Energy:
Not only does microdosing have the potential to provide a significant mood-boost, but it can also be an excellent energy booster or pre-workout supplement. Research into microdosing for athletic performance is very limited and is largely anecdotal, however individuals report increased motivation, a decreased perception of pain and fatigue, improved mood and enhanced focus and concentration.
Microdosing paired with a good sleep schedule and a nutritious diet can potentially have a great effect on athletic performance, primarily due to psilocybin binding to serotonin receptors in the brain. The activation of the 5-HT2A Receptor is what results in ‘neuro-plasticity’, which can lead to improved learning and adaptation to new training stimuli. The 5-HT1A receptor is partly responsible for the increased mood, motivation and overall feeling of wellness.
