Introducing: NB-DMT Freebase Changa

Since the first “legal DMT” alternative was produced a couple of years ago – NB-DMT Oxalate – our initial excitement soon became dissatisfaction; the product was difficult to handle, wasteful when researched, and unnecessarily toxic. Sure, it was better than NO legal alternative, but it simply did not compare to its parent compound. So, we went on a mission to find and produce a better alternative.

Having recently discovered MindPort Lab, which had just produced for us the purest batch of 5-MeO-DMT we’d ever come across (our 3rd party tester literally couldn’t believe it was freebase until he tested it), we knew who the right people would be for the job.

First, they perfected a route to synthesising NB-DMT freebase. Easy (for them). But, the problem we soon discovered – pure NB-DMT when in freebase form is an oily liquid and impossible to crystallise, making it virtually unusable for experimentation. The first idea (which we are still working on!) was to make vapourisers. It’s already a liquid, so it should be easy, right? Unfortunately not… the problem this time was that as the vapouriser was used, converted N,N-DMT would gradually accumulate in both the chamber and head of the vape. Meaning the product would gradually become illegal over time. Not ideal, I think we can all agree.

Luckily, one of MindPort’s chemists had an ingenious idea – why not absorb the freebase oil into carrier herbs, and then, the even more exciting realisation – the herbs could be blended with MAOIs, thus making the world’s first “legal Changa”.

Changa vs Pure DMT

“Changa” as it’s currently known was first created by Australian psychonaut Julian Palmer in 2003-2004 (there is, of course, some debate around this, as ayahuasca and combinations of DMT with MAO inhibitors have been used for thousands of years by Amazonian tribes; but as far as we know, this particular smokable blend of DMT was first made by Palmer).

Changa is essentially a blend of DMT freebase combined with smokable herbs like mullein and mint leaf, blended with MAO inhibitors, usually Tethrahydroharmine (THH), Harmine and Harmaline. All three of these MAOIs are found naturally in Banisteriopsis caapi – AKA “soul vine” – which is one of the two main ingredients used to brew traditional ayahuasca.

When added to smokable DMT, these MAOIs increase the length of the trip (from around 10-15 minutes for DMT freebase to around 15-20 minutes), slow down the onset time very slightly (still only a matter of seconds), and alter the nature of the experience itself. Visual hallucinations are often described as being more “natural” and “plant-like”, whereas pure DMT more often produces “cleaner geometric patterns”, which is obviously quite a vague way to describe it, but words are simply inadequate to explain the subtle differences between psychedelics of this nature.

The Blends

These three blends were specially formulated by MindPort Lab after several months of experimentation and optimisation:

Vine – This blend contains the largest quantities of the MAO inhibitors THH, Harmine, and Harmaline. This is the full Changa experience.

Ingredients: nb-DMT Freebase, THH, Harmine, Harmaline, mullein leaf, mint leaf

Leaf – This blend contains THH and Harmine only, in lesser quantities than “Vine”. For the “Changa-lite” experience.

Ingredients: nb-DMT Freebase, THH, Harmine, mullein leaf, mint leaf

Crystal – This blend contains no MAO inhibitors and is simply a blend of pure NB-DMT Freebase with carrier herbs, mullein and mint leaf. The pure DMT experience.

Ingredients: nb-DMT Freebase, mullein leaf, mint leaf

Important to note

Both pure DMT and Changa are incredibly powerful psychedelics and should be treated with the utmost respect. All necessary precautions should be taken when conducting research with these compounds. Always make sure your laboratory is safe and secure and that you have trusted lab technicians on hand to help out with any experiments.

Legality

NB-DMT Freebase is currently legal in Germany, the Netherlands, and many other European countries. As always, do your due diligence to make sure that our products are legal in your country before you order!

Now Partnered with MindPort Lab. Who? What? Why? HOW?!

After Lizard Labs decided to finally close for business at the end of 2024, we were all quite devastated about the uncertain future of high-quality, legal psychedelics in Europe. There were a couple of labs based in the Netherlands and Germany that we had contact with about producing tryptamines, but these labs mainly produced chemicals very large scale, at a cheap cost, and outsourced much of the production to China and India. They also produced large quantities of chemicals that we did not want to see on the market (synthetic opioids, for example). So it was clear we were not ethically aligned, and we did not want to put our trust in them for more complicated compounds like tryptamines.

Then, at the beginning of 2025, we were lucky enough to discover MindPort Lab (which, by the way, is a pseudonym – they need to remain somewhat anonymous due to the work they do in the pharmaceutical field) a few months ago through mutual connections in the Czechia Psychedelics Community. As we got to know them, it became clear that this was a lab run by people who are passionate about the field of psychedelics and obsessed with quality, product optimisation and innovation (I know these are buzzwords, but they seriously are obsessed with this stuff!) and with whom we share the same ethical concerns about the industry.

Over the last several months, we’ve built a close partnership with them and are now working closely together on developing new products in various forms, some of which will be legal in Germany. We’re very excited about the prospect of finding a lab that can truly fill the shoes of Lizard Labs, which obviously left a huge void in the research chemicals scene, and not having to rely on sketchy labs with even sketchier business practices.

Anyway, we very much look forward to bringing you these new products, some of which will be entirely novel compounds and others will be well-known RCs in different forms (vapes, anyone?) and you can rest assured that anything produced by MindPort will be of the highest quality (of course, we still 3rd-party test everything because that’s just how we do things).
