An NFT is a digitally minted collectible asset that exists on the blockchain. In the same way that art is seen as a value-holding investment, now so are NFTs. But why?
First, let’s break down the term. NFT stands for “non-fungible token” – a digital token that’s a type of cryptocurrency, much like Bitcoin or Etherium. However, unlike a standard cryptocurrency, an NFT is unique and therefore can’t be exchanged like-for-like (hence, non-fungible). Do read more on how to flip NFTs for profit.
So, other than being non-fungible, what makes an NFT special? Well, extra information can be stored within the token, which elevates it above pure currency and opens it up to almost any form of media – art, music, etc. There are many types of NFTs; they could take the form of a piece of digital art or a music file – anything unique that can be stored digitally and hold value. Essentially, they are like any other physical collector’s item, but instead of receiving an oil painting on canvas to hang on your wall, for example, you get a JPG or MP4 file.
You guys have been giving us so much amazing feedback since we released our highly popular Lysergamide Chemcards Collection. So much so, that we decided to turn them into some of these collectible digital assets.
Our in-house artist and designer Matt has been working overtime digitalizing the Lysergamide Collection, capturing the gorgeous metallic foil effect from the prints into animated digital form.
We’ve minted fifty of each Lysergamide card onto the Ethereum blockchain and embedded within each NFT is hidden unlockable content that will only be revealed to the owner.
Dissociative and Tryptamine Chemcards are in the works and will be digitally minted in the future as well.
We know the RC industry won’t be around forever and wanted to create some rare and collectible artworks for enthusiasts to remember this amazing time. We’ve minted 50 of each card (the same will apply to the Dissociative and Tryptamine cards), and no more will ever be created.
We’ll announce auctions over the coming months for each card, so keep your eyes peeled for a chance of picking up one of these. Or if you really can’t wait, you can pick them up at their “buy it now price” via Opensea at any time.
